Reflexology
More than a Massage!

Reflexology treats your whole body from pressure points on your hands and feet. It's more than massage!

Learn about hand reflexology, foot reflexology, a reflexology chart and meridians.

Although a reflexology treatment given by a professional is the ultimate, YOU can learn to give an effective treatment to yourself and your family...

(If I could have my way, I would have my feet pushed and poked everyday!)...

If you are willing and able to devote a bit of time and energy to yourself, by stimulating certain reflex points on the feet you can relieve stress headaches, migraines, muscle tension and sinus problems.

How Does Reflexology Work

The simple explanation is that there are "reflex" areas on the feet, hands and ears that correspond to specific organs, glands, and other parts of the body. In other words, the feet form a mini-map of the body where all the body systems can be accessed.

By applying pressure to these reflex or pressure points, crystalline deposits and tension relating to corresponding body tissues can be dispersed. Circulation also improves and the natural healthy functioning of the related areas of the body gets a kick-start!

And there is more...

The musculo-skeletal system relaxes, organs and glands are stimulated, and the blood and lymph circulation are improved so that released toxins can be eliminated, thus encouraging the body to heal itself.

Reflexology can help you to cope with stress on a physical, mental and emotional level...

How?...

Energy is cleared from body tissues enabling the release of “negative energy”...

Physical toxins and mental and emotional energy held in the body’s tissues can therefore be cleared. It all works to restore health to the entire being.

In ancient times we stimulated these reflexes naturally by walking barefoot over rocks, stones and rough ground, or by using our hands more often to climb, build or work. In today’s modern world we have lost much of nature’s way of maintaining a balanced and healthy equilibrium. Reflexology helps to restore this balance and promote natural health.

But if you are interested in a bit of history, then read on... You can carry on with the "treatment" in a few minutes!

A Bit of History

Reflexology is both old and new...

Apparently the practice of reflexology is evident in Egypt, North America, Japan, East India, Arabic and Grecian countries as well as in primitive African communities.

We can see the connection between the feet and wellness in the following...

  • Buddha’s upturned foot, used to represent his entire being.

  • Symbols painted on the soles of the Hindu god, Lord Vishnu.

  • Pictographs in Egyptian tombs.

  • And the belief of the Cherokee Indians in the significance of the feet connecting the earth and its energies to mankind.

If we look back in the history books we see that ancient healers used various methods to strengthen and balance the energy flow in the body. They understood that energy flows in zones or meridians throughout the body and that these meridians or energy pathways link organs and body parts. In fact, the Chinese divided the body into meridians and the West only became aware of these teachings as late as the 1900’s.

These energy pathways are the primary basis for reflexology.
